Police probe revealed that the rape incident reported on Trail 3 of Islamabad’s Margalla Hills turned out to be a ‘blackmailing act’ by an organised gang.
Islamabad: A police probe revealed that the rape incident reported on Trail 3 of Islamabad’s Margalla Hills turned out to be a ‘blackmailing act’ by an organised gang.
The primary suspect who is accused of sexually assaulting a lady at the Margalla Hills Trail 3 was detained by Islamabad police yesterday.
According to police authorities who addressed to the media, two friends had a personal argument before the rape accusations were made.
Islamabad police spokesperson said in a statement that a man namely Noman had a fight with his friend Anwar who later hired a gang for taking revenge.
The spokesperson explained how Anwar got in touch with Saima to set up Noman as the victim of a false rape accusation. Saima was a member of an organized blackmailing group that also included Dr. Sidra Ismail, Shakeel, a fake journalist, and Manzoor, a fake law enforcement officer.
Saima and Dr. Sidra Ismail set up a scene to accuse Noman of rape. Noman had been instructed to meet the girl at Margalla Hills Trail 3.
According to the plan, the girl will create a rape scenario, and her friends would record the entire incident in order to catch Noman. When the girl's friends failed to show up at the agreed-upon spot following the meeting, the situation altered. The young woman made a report at the Kohsar police station.
For the initial investigation, the authorities called the girl to the police station, where she told the magistrate the whole truth.
According to the spokesperson of the Islamabad police, it is a well-organized gang whose members used to trap and extort victims.
According to the police officials, Sidra and another gang member, Anwarul Haq, both have criminal histories. Sidra was also named in two instances in Sheikhupura and Muridke.
Earlier, Islamabad police on Monday arrested the key suspect who allegedly raped a woman at one of the trails of the capital’s Margalla Hills.
The Islamabad Police said that, after a three-day search, the culprit was successfully arrested.
The victim was allegedly not helping the police with their investigation, so they arrested the man late last night on "technical bases" after looking for him.
The police stated that the preliminary medical test had "not proven the rape," and that there were "no signs of resistance or marks due to the bushes" along the path.
A day earlier, the federal police said that the event was under investigation "on merit" and that "evidence of assault was not found" according to the victim's medical report.
