Ecuador: Ecuador's volatile prisons witnessed a week-long wave of violence that has resulted in 31 fatalities, but the military has now regained control.
The government has imposed a state of emergency in the country's prisons for a period of two months.
According to the Attorney General, more than 2700 incidents of arson and dangerous weapons seizures have been reported from various prisons.
The spate of violent incidents in the prisons has claimed the lives of 31 inmates, leaving 14 critically injured.
During the chaos, 120 prison officers were taken hostage and later released.
It is crucial to recall that clashes between two rival groups within Ecuador's dangerous prisons erupted on July 22nd.
