Manila: In an unfortunate incident, 26 people were drowned after a passenger boat capsized in the Philippines.
According to foreign media reports, a boat full of passengers sank in the coastal area near the capital Manila on Thursday night due to heavy flooding and strong winds caused by the storm.
At least 26 people died in the boat capsizing accident while 40 passengers were rescued.
Philippine Coast Guard and police officials stated that it is not yet clear how many people were on board the boat, and rescue operations are underway to search for the missing people.
Coast Guard officials said that due to the strong winds, most of the passengers moved to one side of the boat, which caused the weight on one side of the boat to tilt and then suddenly capsize.
