After England's spinners injury just before the Ashes series, the management reached out to Moeen to consider coming out of retirement.
London: England's seasoned all-rounder Moeen Ali has once again announced his retirement from Test cricket.
Moeen Ali bid farewell to Test cricket at the end of the 2021 season.
However, in the wake of an injury to England's spinner Jack Leach just a few days before the Ashes series against Australia, the management reached out to Moeen Ali to consider coming out of retirement.
Following discussions with the team management, Moeen Ali decided to make a comeback to Test cricket for the Ashes series against Australia.
In the final match of the Ashes series, England emerged victorious, and in a post-match interview with the British media, Moeen Ali confirmed that he is once again retiring from Test cricket.
He stated, "I have now retired from Test cricket, and if Ben Stokes contacts me again for a Test match, I will decline the offer."
Reflecting on his decision, Moeen Ali expressed his joy in playing Test cricket and mentioned that ending it with a victory feels great.
Notably, England's fast bowler Stuart Broad also announced his retirement from cricket after the last match of the Ashes series.
During the recent Ashes series, Moeen Ali scored a total of 180 runs and claimed 9 wickets in the four Test matches.
