US condemns suicide attack in Bajaur
The spokesperson of US Department of State reiterated his commitment to work with Pakistan to counter the common threat of terrorist groups.
Washington DC: United States strongly condemned the Bajaur attack and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life.
US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller condemned the suicide blast at the corner meeting of Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) in Bajaur, saying that such attacks are an insult to all peaceful and democratic societies.
He reiterated his commitment to work with Pakistan to counter the common threat of terrorist groups.
Responding to a question, the spokesperson of US Department of State said: “We will continue to communicate with Pakistan to stabilize bilateral trade and investment”.
Apart from this, Matthew Miller added that they have made it clear to the Taliban that Afghanistan should not be used as a terrorist base.
It is pertinent to note that the latest terrorist attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa took place in Bajaur, where a suicide blast took place in a corner meeting of JUI-F, resulting in 54 martyrs and more than 80 injuries.
Additional Inspector General (IG) Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Shaukat Abbas said in this regard that the JUI meeting started at 2:00 pm and the blast took place at 4:10 pm.
He stated that ball bearings and other things have been found on the spot. The blast was suicide and the attacking group has been identified. There was a specific target in the blast.
