Okara: In a tragic incident, a boat capsized near Okara in River Sutlej in which a five-year-old child died in the accident.

According to details, the boat capsized at Sutlej Dona Khokhran in Okara, as a result of which 39 people on board the boat went missing.

Later 31 people have been rescued while the rescue operation is underway to search for eight missing people in the incident.

On the other hand, Murree Kohala Road was closed for two days due to landslides in Azad Kashmir's Neelum Valley.

According to the Deputy Commissioner, tourists should use Hazara Motorway via Rawalpindi. The construction work will continue after the landslide on Kohala Road at 8 points.

On the other hand, the overflow head has reached Sindhnai in the Ravi River. Assistant Commissioner stated that the waterflow has entered the settlements located in the river belt, and thousands of acres of corn crops have been damaged by the flood.

Talking to media, the spokesperson of Rescue 1122 Farooq Ahmad said: “Two boats of Rescue 1122 have been immediately dispatched to the accident site to save the lives of the people on board”.

He added however, it is not possible to continue the operation due to the darkness of the night.

The spokesperson told that they were facing the problem with signals during the rescue operation and the two rescue boats could not be contacted. It was not possible to estimate how many people were on board the boat.

According to local people, the accident took place at the crossing point between Okara and Bahawalnagar.

He told that usually one does not travel by boat at night to go from one place to another but goods are transported by boat at night.
