Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz has alleged that by-election in the National Assembly constituency NA-249 was stolen from her party by only a few hundred votes.

On official twitter handle, she wrote “Election Commission of Pakistan must withhold the results of one of the most disputed and controversial elections”.
She further added, “Even if it doesn’t, this victory will be temporary and will Insha’Allah come back to PML-N soon.”
"The vote is being respected and will continue to be," PML-N vice president concluded.

In a statement, PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif expressed hope that Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will make the right decision and fulfill all the requirements of justice and transparency regarding NA-249 by-polls.
Shehbaz Sharif also thanked the people of the constituency and PML-N candidate Miftah Ismail for his struggle.

The statements came after Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) won the by-election in NA-249 Karachi West-II by a margin of just 683 votes.
The results were announced after 11 hours while the turn out the votes polled remained 21.64%.
Announcing the unofficial results, District Returning Officer (DRO), Nadim Haider said the winner candidate of the PPP secured 16,156 votes, while Miftah Ismail of PML-N bagged 15,473 votes.
On the other hand, Nazir Ahmed of proscribed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) grabbed 11,126 votes and came third. Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chief Mustafa Kamal got 9,227 votes to remain fourth.
Amjad Afridi of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) got 8922 votes and stood at 5th position.
The seat fell vacant due to resignation of former Federal Minister Faisal Vawda of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf.
