Islamabad: The Interior Ministry has decided to form a three-member committee to review the ban placed on the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).

According to details, a high-level meeting was held by the Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed to review ban on TLP. The appeal filed by the banned outfit was also discussed during the meeting.
The interior minister decided to form a three-member committee, comprising two joint secretaries, to review the ban.
Earlier yesterday, the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan had approached Interior Ministry to lift ban imposed on the outfit by the government. The leaders of TLP had also filed a petition seeking review of the ban.
On April 12, violent protests were sparked by the arrest of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) leader Saad Rizvi in Lahore on unspecified charges.
The protestors blocked several roads of major cities including Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi causing massive jams. Clashes between police and demonstrators were also reported from Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad and several other cities where police officials fired tear gas and water cannon to disperse the protesters, who fought back in some places by pelting stones at police officers.
Following that, on April 14 government announced to ban Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan. The development came on the same day that NACTA also added TLP to its list of proscribed outfits.
