A hearing was held in the LHC on petitions against receiving additional charges in electricity bills.

Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) stopped National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) from charging extra charges from the petitioners in electricity bills on Tuesday.
A hearing was held in the LHC on petitions against receiving additional charges in electricity bills.
Muhammad Hussain and other petitioners appeared before Justice Sultan Tanveer Ahmed.
The petitioners' attorneys informed the court that although the LHC had deemed the collection of additional charges on electricity bills to be invalid, additional charges were once more being added to the invoices.
Moreover, the petitioners argued that there was a worry that energy meters may be disconnected because of unpaid bills.
The court should issue an order preventing the collection of extra fees on electricity bills.
The court ruled that NEPRA was not permitted to add any further fees to electricity bills and instructed NEPRA to act on the petitions in accordance with the law. The court added that NEPRA should make its decision regarding the electricity bill issues in light of the LHC's ruling.
Additionally, the court dismissed the petitions by directing NEPRA to decide about the additional fees on power bill matters in light of the LHC's ruling.
