Govt appoints Dr. Riffat Mukhtar as new Sindh IGP
The federal government has removed Ghulam Nabi Memon as the Sindh Inspector General of Police.
Karachi: The federal government on Saturday appointed Dr. Riffat Mukhtar as the new Inspector General (IG) for Sindh, replacing Ghulam Nabi Memon.
This change was confirmed through a notification issued by the Establishment Division.
Dr. Riffat Mukhtar, currently holding a BS-21 officer position within the government of Punjab, has been transferred and assigned the role of Provincial Police Officer for the Sindh government, effective immediately.
In a separate notification, Ghulam Nabi Memon has been relieved from his duties as Sindh IG and has been instructed to report to the Establishment Division.
This move comes in the wake of a senior bureaucracy reshuffle by the interim federal government, which occurred the day after the swearing-in of the caretaker cabinet. Following the approval of Prime Minister Kakar, the Establishment Division orchestrated the transfer of various senior-level bureaucrats, including chief secretaries for Sindh, Balochistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the federal interior secretary, the Cabinet Division secretary, the chief commissioner of Islamabad, and other high-ranking officials.
As per the notification issued by the Establishment Division, Muhammad Fakhre Alam Irfan, a Grade-22 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service who currently serves as the Secretary for the Housing and Works Division, has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary for Sindh, Pakistan.
