Pakistan summons Indian envoy over LoC firing

Islamabad: Pakistan lodged a strong protest with India over the ceasefire violation across the Line of Control (LoC) on Tuesday.

Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch issued a statement saying that India's Charge d' Affaires had been called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to "register Pakistan's strong protest over the killing of a 60-year-old civilian as a result of firing by the Indian forces."
The FO spokesperson emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and tranquility along the LoC and stated that such actions are a "clear violation of the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding, reaffirmed in February 2021."
The spokesperson emphasized that the Indian forces should proceed with the utmost caution because attacking innocent civilians is against human dignity, international human rights law, and humanitarian law.
Pakistan also urged the Indian side to investigate the incident and respect the “Ceasefire Understanding”.
