Lahore: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Wednesday extended the judicial remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ejaz Chaudhry.
According to details, ATC Lahore heard the case of burning and vandalizing the Shadman police station after the arrest of PTI chairman Imran Khan on May 09, during which the jail police presented Senator Ejaz Chaudhry before the court after his judicial remand was over.
After a brief hearing on the case, the court extended the judicial remand of Ejaz Chaudhry for 13 days.
It is pertinent to note that a case is registered against Ejaz Chaudhry in Shadman police station and he was arrested on May 11 from Gilgit-Baltistan House under Maintenance of Public Order (3 MPO).
May 9 Tragedy
Earlier on May 9, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested PTI chief and former prime minister Imran Khan from the premises of Islamabad High Court (IHC) in the Al-Qadir Trust case, after which protesting PTI workers attacked military installations and government properties. Jinnah House Lahore and the building of Radio Pakistan Peshawar were also set on fire.
After the May 9 atrocities in the country, the law enforcement agencies took strict action and arrested several miscreants, while the main leaders of PTI were detained under 3MPO on the occasion.
After the crackdown against PTI, many prominent leaders of the party have called it quits, including Fawad Chaudhry, Shireen Mazari, Aamir Kayani, Ali Zaidi, Imran Ismail, Pervaiz Khattak, Mahmood Khan, Firdous Ashiq Awan, Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chauhan, Malika Bukhari, Aftab Siddiqui and Mahmood Maulvi.
While the Secretary General of the party Asad Umar has also resigned from all the posts.
