Indian Railways has announced to give INR1 million each to the next of kin of the deceased.
Tamil Nadu: In a tragic incident, 10 tourists were killed when a train caught fire in Madurai, Tamil Nadu in India.
According to Indian media, at least eight tourists from Uttar Pradesh were burnt to death when a cylinder exploded inside the coach of a private train at the Madurai railway yard today (Saturday) morning.
Railway officials said a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder that was illegally "smuggled" in the coach caused the fire.
The fire that broke out at 5:00am was brought under control two hours later at 7:00am.
Officials stated the death toll is 10. Railway and regional authorities are at the spot and are monitoring the rescue operation.
