Islamabad: Pakistan Railways (PR) has announced to run eleven special passenger trains on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr to facilitate the commuters, implementing all Covid-19 related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
According to an official statement released by PR, the first Eid special train will depart from Karachi to Lahore on Friday (today). Similarly, a train from Lahore to Karachi will also leave today.
Two more special passenger trains will leave from Karachi to Lahore on May 9 and 11.
Eid special train from coastal city to Rawalpindi will leave on Tuesday while another train from Karachi to Multan will leave on Wednesday.
The PR management has also finalized arrangements for these trains, following National Command and Operation Centre’s (NCOC) guidelines.
Earlier on May 2, the Pakistan Railways announced to limit the operation of the passenger trains in wake of deadly Covid-19 third wave.
In April, the operation of eight trains running between Lahore and Karachi was suspended due to a shortage of passengers amid global outbreak.
Moreover, NCOC also banned Chandrat bazaars, including mehndi, jewellery and clothing stalls.
As per health authority, all shops and business will remain closed except for essential services including grocery store, pharmacies, meat shops, bakeries and petrol pumps.
