Karachi: Amidst the burden of rising costs, preparations are underway to further burden the populace by increasing electricity prices.
There is a possibility of a Rs2.07 per unit increase in electricity prices.
A request for an additional burden on consumers for one month has been submitted.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will review the request of distribution companies. The proposed adjustment in monthly fuel prices is aimed at aiding state-owned distribution companies.
If approved, it could result in an extra burden of Rs35 billion on electricity consumers.
