Gohar Ali says despite court orders, he asserted that they were not granted access to meet the PTI chairman.
Attock: Lawyers Sheeraz Ahmed Ranjha and Gohar Ali faced were barred by the police from meeting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief at Attock jail, said the latest reports on Friday.
Gohar Ali informed journalists that the PTI chief's sentence had been suspended, and he was detained in connection with the cipher case. Despite court orders, he asserted that they were not granted access to meet the PTI chairman.
Ranjha stated that the court had instructed jail authorities to facilitate a telephonic conversation between the PTI chief and his sons, but the jail officials did not comply with this directive. Instead, the lawyers were told to arrange the telephonic conversation separately when they were allowed to meet him.
Yesterday, the legal team of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief received the record of the cipher case. The record, along with details of the PTI chief's remand, was handed over to the legal team representing the former prime minister.
PTI had previously rejected the relocation of the cipher case hearing against the former prime minister to Attock jail, citing human rights violations. The party called on the Supreme Court to take notice of the matter.
The hearing of the cipher case against the PTI chief was moved to Attock jail as per a notification issued by the law ministry, permitting the case to proceed there. A special court in Islamabad had ordered Attock Jail authorities to keep the PTI chairman in judicial lockup in the cipher case.
