India will play its most important match of Asia Cup 2023 today against its easy rival Nepal at Sri Lanka's Pallekele Cricket Stadium, where the India-Pakistan match remained inconclusive two days ago due to rain.
India will need a must-win or rain intervention to reach the Super Four stage. However, if Nepal pulls off an upset, all India's ambitions will be dashed and they will have to return home empty-handed while Nepal will advance to the next stage.
The two teams will compete for the first time in the Asia Cup. Nepal was easily defeated by Pakistan by 238 runs in the opening match of the event, while the India-Pakistan match was inconclusive due to rain and both teams were given one point each after which Pakistan became the first team to reach the Super Four stage.
Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will not play in today's match. He suddenly left the team due to personal reasons and left for Mumbai. However according to BCCI, he will be available for the Super Four stage.
