Resignation of Prosecutor General NAB Asghar Haider accepted
The tenure of Prosecutor General NAB Syed Asghar Haider was to be completed in February 2024.
Islamabad: The resignation of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Prosecutor General Syed Asghar Haider has been accepted.
According to details, the Ministry of Law issued a notification accepting the resignation of Asghar Haider.
Prosecutor General NAB Justice Retired Syed Asghar Haider resigned on 9 September, which was received by the Prime Minister's Office.
The tenure of Prosecutor General NAB Syed Asghar Haider was to be completed in February 2024.
NAB Prosecutor General Syed Asghar confirmed the resignation and said he has resigned due to personal reasons.
The investigation of 190 million pound scam has been completed. The reference was to be filed this month, without the approval of the Prosecutor General, NAB cannot file a reference in the court.
Without Prosecutor General NAB, the meeting of executive board and the approval of cases also went into a deadlock.
Approval of the Prosecutor General is also required for the restoration of cases after the repeal of the NAB Amendment Law.
It is pertinent to note that earlier in February 2021, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government extended Syed Asghar Haider's post of Prosecutor General NAB for 03 years through an ordinance.
