32 students from same class perish in Morocco earthquake
Morocco is left grappling with the aftermath of this tragic natural disaster, mourning the lives lost.
Morocco: A devastating 6.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Morocco a few days ago has left a trail of destruction and claimed numerous lives, with an especially heart-wrenching tragedy involving 32 students from the same class.
Reports from the international news agency detailed the immense impact of the powerful earthquake, which not only shook Morocco but also caused significant devastation in the mountainous village of Adaseil.
Adaseil, being close to the epicenter of the quake, bore the brunt of the destruction, resulting in the tragic loss of 32 students from a single class.
These young students, aged between 6 and 12 years old, had dreams of a bright and successful future as they embarked on their educational journey.
Their lives were cut short in this devastating natural disaster.
Miss Alfadel, a teacher at the school, shared her profound sadness and grief over the loss of her beloved pupils.
She had been teaching Arabic and French at the school, and their last class together took place on a Friday night, just five hours before the earthquake struck.
Plans were in motion for the students to perform the Moroccan National Anthem during the school assembly on Monday morning.
Alfadel had been preparing to teach the anthem to her students. However, the earthquake left her classroom empty, a poignant and tragic reminder of the lives lost.
The earthquake inflicted extensive damage, with reports indicating that 530 educational institutions were affected in Morocco, some of which were entirely demolished.
The catastrophe, which occurred on the evening of September 8, resulted in the loss of 3,000 lives, thousands of injuries, and the destruction of hundreds of homes and businesses.
