Faisalabad: The main accused involved in selling defective and substandard eye injections to diabetic patients was arrested from Faisalabad.
According to the sources, the accused Asim Khalid was arrested from Faisalabad, against whom a case has been registered under the Drug Act.
Yesterday, the police officials detained Bilal Rashid, an accused involved in the injection scandal, from ArifWala.
According to the police, the accused used to prepare injections of drugs in a private hospital.
Bilal used to supply unregistered, unlicensed injections in various districts of Punjab including Lahore.
Yesterday, while holding a press conference in Lahore along with Dr. Jamal Nasir, Caretaker Health Minister Dr. Javed Akram stated that 68 patients who received defective injections have been reported across Punjab.
Dr. Javed Akram said that police and paramedical staff will conduct a forensic investigation against the injection scandal.
He added that if required we will perform surgery on the patients.
The Caretaker Health Minister added that five committees have been formed to disclose this matter soon. He said that the injections are not substandard, and authorities will issue the license after examining its five-year effects.
