Hyderabad: Afghan fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq, who had earned a spot in Afghanistan's World Cup squad set to compete in India, has made a surprising announcement regarding his retirement from one-day cricket.
Naveen-ul-Haq, a 24-year-old fast bowler, recently returned to the international cricket scene after a hiatus of more than two years.
His decision to retire from one-day cricket after the World Cup has left many cricket enthusiasts and fans taken aback.
Taking to social media to convey his decision, Naveen-ul-Haq expressed his pride in representing his country.
However, he stated that he would be stepping away from one-day cricket while remaining available for selection in the T20 format.
In his social media statement, the young fast bowler acknowledged the difficulty of the decision but emphasized that it was made to extend his cricketing career.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Afghan Cricket Board and all his supporters and fans for their unwavering support throughout his journey.
Beyond international cricket, Naveen-ul-Haq has been a prominent figure in various T20 leagues around the world, including the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Big Bash League (BBL), Lankan Premier League (LPL), and the Indian Premier League (IPL).
