The spokesperson, Vedant Patel stated that the US considers the issue of Khalistan as a matter of freedom of expression.

Washington: In a recent statement, the United States has outlined its stance on the issue of Khalistan, asserting that it views the matter as a question of freedom of expression.
According to US State Department Deputy Spokesman Vedant Patel, Americans enjoy the right to freedom of expression under the First Amendment, which also encompasses the right to engage in peaceful assembly.
Patel further stated that the US government refrains from commenting on the unofficial Khalistan referendum.
This declaration comes in the wake of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's allegations against India, which have raised significant concerns.
The ongoing investigation into the killing of a Sikh leader in Canada has also been highlighted as a matter of extreme importance.
Vedant Patel emphasized that the United States has both publicly and privately urged the Indian government to cooperate fully with the Canadian investigation.
Additionally, when questioned about illegal Afghan refugees residing in Pakistan, the US State Department spokesperson acknowledged Pakistan's significant role as a partner in the resettlement of Afghan refugees.
