According to details, the case of 70 Tola Gold Committee was heard in the Supreme Court by a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa.
The court granted the bail of the arrested accused while expressing its indignation over the non-standard investigation of the police. The court ordered the accused to deposit a bond of Rs200,000.
Chief Justice remarked: “The police no longer has its own respect, it seems that the police has now become a mercenary police. The institution should be respected, the royal system of police and patwari should end”.
The additional prosecutor told the court that 10 grams of gold was not paid when the committee was out. Chief justice inquired how much gold the arrested goldsmith had to give through the committee. The plaintiff replied that the 70 tola of gold out of the committee was not given.
Qazi Faez Isa stated that no income tax has been paid on gold worth Rs10.5 million. Where does this gold come from and what is its legal status? The real accused in this case should be the police.
