Karachi: A Chinese firm has secured an order to provide 100 new energy buses for Karachi’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) routes.

According to details, the energy buses will serve on the Orange-color and Green-color BRT routes after their arrival.
The decision has been taken in order to provide more greener and comfortable transportation system for the metropolitan city.
Karachi has been facing severe traffic issues due to increasing number of cars and population.
Earlier, Federal Minister of Planning and Development Asad Umar informed about the completion of a prototype bus for Karachi’s Green Line Metrobus project.
The Chinese authorities are presently testing the prototype for any mechanical or safety issues. Once the inspection is done, a total of 80 buses will be shipped to Karachi and added to Green Line’s fleet. The mass transit project is likely to become operational this year.
