PIA cancels 25 flights as fuel shortage persists
Two flights between Islamabad and Jeddah have been called off.
Karachi: The ongoing financial crisis plaguing Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) shows no signs of abating, with the national carrier canceling a staggering 25 flights across the country today.
This dire situation has severely impacted the airline's ability to maintain its regular flight operations.
According to reports, a new fuel adjustment plan has been put in place, resulting in the operation of only five domestic and international flights at Karachi Airport for the day.
This plan has necessitated the cancellation of two vital flights connecting Islamabad and Jeddah, further exacerbating the woes of travelers.
Approximately 25 flights scheduled to depart from Karachi to destinations such as Islamabad, Quetta, Bahawalpur, Lahore, Gwadar, and Multan have been canceled due to a critical shortage of fuel.
The stark reality of this situation is that PIA, the nation's flag carrier, is grappling with fuel-related challenges that are significantly impeding its ability to serve passengers.
Sources reveal that the root of the problem lies in the reduced supply of fuel from Pakistan State Oil (PSO), a state-owned entity responsible for the distribution of petroleum products in Pakistan.
The consequences of this shortage have been detrimental, leading to a wave of flight cancellations, and disrupting travel plans for countless passengers.
PIA's continued financial struggles have elicited widespread concern and criticism.
