The blast took place on the second day of a three day truce agreed upon by the Afghan government and the Taliban to mark the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The explosives, planted in the mosque before Friday prayers, rocked the northern suburb of Kabul, killing the Imam along with twelve others and wounding 15 more.
The explosion came less than a week after another bomb ripped through a thoroughway outside a school, killing 50, including dozens of children, most of them Hazara.
On Thursday, four separate incidents killed 11 people across Afghanistan.
As yet, no one has claimed the attack.
