The former captain and king of swing says not utilizing the main bowler was a significant error that led to defeat.

Karachi: Former Pakistan captain and king of swing Wasim Akram backed Babar Azam’s captaincy but questioned as to why Nawaz bowled there at the challenging time.
“The captaincy is fine. You, Babar Azam, used the main bowlers and got the wickets but is difficult for me to understand that why Nawaz bowled there,” said Wasim Akram while talking to a local TV channel.
Wasim Akram was of the view that he did not have the confidence, and he was delivering above his shoulder, causing his deliveries to drift down towards the leg side.
“I think that was a significant error by the captain to not utilize our main bowler, who was taking wickets,” he stated.
He came down hard upon Captain Babar Azam for committing a strategic mistake during the clash with South Africa.
Usama Mir, he said, still had had two overs left and was performing well in his bowling, so he should have been brought there instead of Nawaz.
He held Nawaz responsible for the loss as lack of self-assurance and subpar bowling performance by Nawaz were the key factors at that moment.
He also appreciated the pacers who made a strong comeback in the match, with particular commendation for Haris Rauf and Mohammad Wasim.
