Army chief expresses condolences on sad demise of Begum Nasim Wali khan

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has expressed his sincere condolences over passing of the political leader Begum Nasim Wali Khan.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the COAS is deeply saddened by the sad demise of former parliamentarian and ANP leader Begum Nasim.

“May Allah Almighty bless the departed soul in eternal peace and give solace to the bereaved family, Ameen,” said the Army Chief.

On the other hand, President Dr Arif Alvi, in his condolence message, said Begum Nasim Wali Khan’s services in the political arena will be remembered.

Sympathizing with the bereaved family, he prayed for the departed soul and paid tribute to her services.

Earlier, Begum Nasim Wali Khan, 88 a devoted activist associated with the Awami National Party (ANP) passed away after a protracted illness on Sunday.

The funeral was held in the city’s Wali Bagh at 6 pm today and the late leader will be buried in her ancestral graveyard in the Utmanzai village of Charsadda.

Born in 1933, the Pakhtun nationalist leader was one of the main leaders of the Pakistan National Alliance and made history in 1977 as the first woman elected from a Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province general seat.

She also served as the provincial president of ANP thrice.

Nasim Wali Khan married Khan Abdul Wali Khan in 1954. She is the mother of Sangeen Wali Khan (late), as well as step-mother of Asfandyar Wali Khan.
