Prime Minister Imran Khan's close aide and old-friend Zulfi Bukhari on Monday has stepped down as Special Assistant to The Prime Minister (SAPM) on Overseas Pakistanis & HRD.

The development came when PM’s adviser's name emerged into Rawalpindi Ring Road corruption case of which NAB has also taken notice.
The Chairman of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) and National Tourism Coordination Board (NTCB), Zulfi Bukhari, has decided to leave the office until his name is cleared up in the ongoing NAB inquiry of allegations regarding Ring Road.
According to the special assistant to PM, he has taken this step to promote PM’s vision and will not leave Pakistan until the inquiry concludes.

My Prime Minister has always said that if a person has been named rightly or wrongly in any inquiry he should cease to hold any public office till his name has been cleared of charges .
Owing to the allegations in ongoing Ring Road inquiry I want to set this example..
“by resigning from office until my name is cleared up of any allegations and media’s obnoxious lies,”
Zulfi pledged to work with PM khan by saying that, “I’m here to stay in Pakistan and stand united with the Prime Minister and his vision. I sacrificed my life overseas to come and serve my country, I am ready to face any inquiry.”
According to a NAB statement issued from Islamabad, Chairman Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal has directed NAB Rawalpindi to complete the investigation of the Rawalpindi Ring Road project without any discrimination and following the law and review all aspects of the project.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Zulfi Bukhari along with Ghulam Sarwar Khan were named in a mega corruption case of Rs2 billion Rawalpindi Ring Road project scam.
Earlier, the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has demanded the government to constitute a judicial commission, comprising of the Supreme Court judges to investigate the Rawalpindi Ring Road scandal.
Before the investigations, the PML-N leader, Ataullah Tarar, while talking to media on Wednesday alleged that so far Rs2.3 billion has been paid to various property dealers and most of them were the frontmen of PTI’s Zulfi Bukhari and Ghulam Sarwar.
Following the allegations by the opposition, PM Imran Khan on Saturday ordered a full-fledged inquiry into the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project scam.
