Gaza: The diseases have been spreading rapidly in Gaza since the devastating attacks by Israel.
According to foreign media, the World Health Organization (WHO) spokeswoman in Geneva, Margaret Harris, said in a briefing on the situation in Gaza: “If the health and sanitation system in the Gaza Strip is not restored, the people of Gaza may die of more diseases than the bomb”.
The spokesman stated that since October 7, Israeli attacks have been continuing in Gaza, due to which all systems, including infrastructure, have been destroyed, while the shortage of other medical needs including fuel is worst due to attacks on hospitals.
WHO spokesperson added that due to poor sanitation, other infections such as bad stomach are spreading rapidly and unfortunately, due to the collapse of the treatment system, it has become difficult to save lives.
In addition, the attack on Gaza's largest al-Shifa hospital, WHO described as a 'tragedy' and expressed concern over the detention of senior doctors, including the director of the hospital, by Israeli forces this month.
According to media reports, WHO has reported 44,000 cases of diarrhea and 70,000 respiratory infections in Gaza, while the number of cases is expected to get even higher.
Reports indicated that Gaza has a population of 2.3 million, half of whom are children, who are also deprived of drinking water.
