The NEPRA sent the decision to the federal government for notification.


Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) Friday hiked the cost of electricity for consumers in Karachi.
According to the details, NEPRA approved the government's request to increase the price of electricity for Karachi and approved an increase of Rs1.72 per unit.
The approval has been issued by NEPRA for the second and third quarter adjustments of the last financial year, under which an increase of Rs1.25 per unit has been approved in the quarterly adjustment of January-March 2023. While an increase of Rs0.47 per unit has been approved in the quarterly adjustment for October to December 2022.
NEPRA's decision stated that the hike was approved to maintain a uniform electricity tariff across the country while collections from electricity consumers should be made in January, February and March 2024.
The NEPRA sent the decision to the federal government for notification.
