Nigeria's army chief, Lt-Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, has been killed in an air crash in the north-western state of Kaduna.

According to details, the incident occurred as a result of a bad weather during landing. Ten other officers, including the plane's crew have also been killed in the crash.
The Nigerian Air Force said the incident happened while the plane was making a landing at Kaduna International Airport.
Reacting to the news, Nigera’s President Muhammadu Buhari said he was deeply saddened by the crash.
The 54-year old Gemeral Attahiru had assumed charges as top military official in January 2021 as part of government's plan to boost the military's efficiency in fighting a more than ten years old jihadist insurgency.
Three months earlier, a Nigerian military plane crashed short of a runway in the capital Abuja, leaving all seven people dead on board.
