Islamabad: The details of the taxes submitted by the salaried and other classes from across the country have come to light.

According to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), in the first six months of this financial year, the salaried class paid 158 billion rupees in tax, which is 248 percent more tax than the exporters. While, the salaried class paid 38% more tax than last year. 300 billion rupees tax is likely to be collected from the waged category this year. 

The FBR stated that in the first six months of this fiscal year, the highest tax of Rs228 billion was paid by contractors which is 31% more than last year.

According to FBR, bank account holders were the second highest tax payers and importers were the third highest tax payers in the first six months of this financial year, while 57 percent was earned from withholding tax. Whereas in the last six months, the salaried class paid 200% more tax than the shopkeepers and exporters.

FBR stated that from July to December, exporters paid only Rs46 billion tax at the rate of one percent, they earned 15 billion dollars and importers paid Rs189 billion in tax in the last six months.

According to FBR, salaried people from Sindh paid Rs66 billion as tax, out of which only Karachi salaried people paid 57 billion rupees. Punjab salaried people paid 59.4 billion rupees out of which Rs33 billion was collected only from Lahore, Rs19 billion from Islamabad, 4.2 billion rupees from Balochistan and Rs9 billion from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
