Fires breaks out in Peshawar shopping center, goods worth millions destroyed
Batteries and UPS burst in the shopping center, increasing the intensity of the fire which is causing difficulties in putting control.


Peshawar: A fire suddenly erupted in a shopping center located in Sadar area of Peshawar which burnt property worth millions of rupees, while the fire could not be controlled despite the passage of four hours, firefighters are still busy trying to extinguish the fire.
According to the authorities, more than 26 fire brigade vehicles and more than 130 fire fighters are engaged in extinguishing the fire in order to control it caused by short circuit in the shopping center of Peshawar. While teams of fire fighters and fire brigade vehicles have been called from other districts as well.
Rescue officials said that the fire has engulfed the entire plaza. The two-storey building has about 200 shops. Batteries and UPS burst in the shopping center, increasing the intensity of the fire which is causing difficulties in putting control.
According to the officials, the houses near the shopping center were evacuated as the fire is expanding due to the explosion of batteries and UPS in the shopping center.
The rescue officials told that there are shops selling mobile phones, UPS and other electronics in the center. However, no loss of life has been immediately reported.
