Satisfied with decision of not contesting elections: Khaqan
Responding to a question he said that he is considering the possibility of establishing a political party after election.
Islamabad: Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Thursday stated that he remains actively engaged in politics although he has withdrawn from upcoming general election.
In a media interaction, Shahid Khaqan emphasized: “I am not participating in the elections but I am satisfied that I made the right decision”.
He expressed the public disappointment with the electoral process insisting that it is time to ensure the undisputed conduct of the elections.
The former premier remarked that getting vote through pressure tactics is not politics. The country can progress only when the mandate of the people is respected.
Khaqan stated that the main political parties have been failed. The individuals not participating in the elections are being called by the government department.
He emphasized that the national progress will take place only if the political leadership and state institutions collaborate. “No party has addressed the rights of people as the elections are only two weeks away”.
It is the bad luck of the country that National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Anti-Corruption Department and police are contesting the elections who have become the most corrupt institutes themselves, who will make them accountable, stated Abbasi.
He also continued that it is the responsibility of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) and Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar to ensure the transparency of the electiosn.
Responding to a question he said that he is considering the possibility of establishing a political party after election.
