Islamabad: Former commissioner Rawalpindi Liaqat Ali Chattah has taken a U-turn regarding his statement of rigging in general elections’ results.
According to the details, Liaqat Ali Chattah recorded his statement in Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Liaqat Chattah stated that he gave his statement because of a specific party hired him to do that and he called his statement an irresponsible act and misguiding information.
He apologized on his statement from the nation and he said that he is very guilty on doing such kind of act. He was going to retire on March 9 and he was upset for losing the official luxuries in government job.
He claimed that a political party’s leader made him do that do for the sake of money. This party’s leader ran away amid involved in May 9 case. He was in connection with that leader. He was helping secretly to that leader.
Former Rawalpindi asserted that he met with that party’s leader secretly on February 11 in Lahore. That leader told him to proof the rigging in general elections’ results by giving a statement.
Liaqat said that at first it was decided that he will resign from the post by giving a statement about rigging in general elections’ results. So, he decided to make a press conference with full emotional drama.
He affirmed that he deliberately added Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa’s name into that press conference yet he has done nothing at all. It was on purpose that the people will hate CJP.
“I have got no directions in rigging in general elections’ results from ECP neither CJP or any other authority. There was not Returning officer (RO) involved in my forged statement. I am very guilty for what I did.” He added.
It should be noted that former commissioner Rawalpindi announced to resign amid rigging in general elections’ results.
