Islamabad: An alternate plan has been prepared for the national assembly’s session on February 29 in case president Arif Alvi not summoned the session by himself.
According to the details, this plan has been prepared by the caretaker set up and the national assembly’s secretariat. The national assembly’s secretariat will issue a notification to summon the session.
In this regard, a summary will be sent to the national assembly’s speaker from the caretaker prime minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar.
National assembly secretariat’s department of law will give briefing to speaker today (Monday). The session by February 29 is the constitutional need according to the constitution’s article 91 section two.
The president will be violating the constitution if not summoned the session in 21 days. There is nothing written in the constitution regarding that the president can stop the new national assembly session’s summary.
Information secretary of Pakistan Peoples party (PPP) Shazia Marri stated that the president's delay in convening the meeting of the newly elected assembly is an improper use of his authority.
She directed that the president must call the meeting of the national assembly without delay on the summary of the prime minister so that the national assembly is active. President should uphold the Constitution instead of being loyal to one person.
She recalled that this is the same president who dissolved the national assembly in an unconstitutional manner in the past. President should avoid playing with the constitution as in the past.
She further said that every violation of the constitution and misuse of office by Alvi will remain a part of history, the national assembly elections have been completed yet the president is bound to call a meeting of the national assembly.
