Pakistan Ulama Council Chairman Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi has strongly condemned the harassment of a woman in Lahore because of Arabic words printed on her dress.
In his statement, Tahir Ashrafi said that a woman was harassed in Lahore because Arabic words were printed on her dress.
He added that the efforts of the Ichhra police on this occasion are commendable, but it was unjustified to make the woman apologize, instead the harassers should apologize.
It is pertinent to note that the aggressors who accused blasphemy by mistaking the Quranic verses could not understand the word written on the woman's shirt.
The shirt she was wearing is a Saudi Arabian brand Shalik Riyadh that sells kurtas with Arabic words on them.
At the same time, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that they have recommended the name of Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi for the prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal (QPM), the highest award for law enforcement in Pakistan for putting her life in danger to rescue the woman from the violent crowd.
