New snowfall spell to hit Pakistan tomorrow

Islamabad: The rain and snowfall continue in the upper regions of the country, while the new snowfall spell will begin tomorrow for which Deputy Commissioner (DC) Karam has announced a three-day holiday in the schools of Upper Karam and Central Karam.

The Meteorological Department said that the weather will remain cold and dry in most parts of the country, while there is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to the Department of Meteorology, it is likely to remain partly cloudy in Islamabad and adjoining areas.

The weather is expected to remain cold and dry in most of the districts of Punjab, while the weather is expected to remain cold and partly cloudy in Murree, Galiyat and surrounding areas.

Apart from this, the weather will remain cold and dry in most of the districts of Sindh.

In the last 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded in Islamabad Saidpur 06 mm and Rawalpindi Shamsabad 04 mm.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Meteorological Department stated that the weather will remain dry and cold in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today.

According to the Meteorological Department yesterday, 114 mm of rain was recorded in Malam Jabba, 90 in Timragarh, 77 in Saidu Sharif and 63 mm in Dir. While 17 inches of snowfall in Malam Jabba, 10 inches in Kalam, nine inches in Chitral and three inches in Dir.

According to the meteorological department, the temperature of Kalam was -8 degrees, the temperature of Dir and Chitral was -1 degrees and the temperature of Parachinar was recorded at zero degrees.

Upper Dir

Record snow fell in the urban and upper areas of Dir. Heavy snowfall occurred in Ishir Dara, Kumrat and Dogdara, while up to seven feet of snow fell in Lowari Tunnel.

The connecting roads were closed due to snowfall and electricity supply was suspended in various areas while the district administration closed educational institutions.

Kurram district

The rule of extreme cold continues in Kurram district, due to the blood-curdling cold, people were confined to their homes.

Due to extreme cold, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kurram announced three days holiday in Upper Kurram and Central Kurram schools from March 4 to 6.

Parachinar recorded a minimum temperature of -6 today, no rain or snowfall is expected in the district today.

Kalat

The severity of cold is also maintained in Kalat city and its suburbs, where the cold has made everyone feel cold.

According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature in Kalat was recorded at -6 degrees Celsius.

The blood-curdling cold after rain and snowfall severely affected human life, while long load-shedding of electricity and shutdown of gas pressure made the citizens suffer.

Muzaffarabad

Land connectivity of Lipa Valley and Upper Neelam Valley of Muzaffarabad city of Azad Kashmir with other areas has been cut for the fourth day today.

The Roads Department has accelerated the rehabilitation of roads closed due to snowfall, landslides and avalanches.

Residents of the Lipa valley risked their lives and carried the dead body on their shoulders and traveled several kilometers in the snow. Despite the avalanches from Reshiyan to Lipa, the dead body was carried on stilts and brought to Lipa.

Government Minister Dewan Ali Khan Chughtai issued instructions to the Road Department for the immediate restoration of Rishian Lipa road.

The Roads Department has stepped up the work of landslides and snow removal from the roads in Neelam Valley. The spokesman of the road department said that the work of rehabilitation of Neelam highway and connecting roads is going on day and night.
