Mahmood Achakzai demands to postpone presidential election
Mahmood Achakzai has been nominated as a candidate by the members of SIC supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Islamabad: Mahmood Achakzai, the nominated candidate for the election of the president of Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), Friday demanded the postponement of the presidential election.
According to the schedule issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the election of the next president of Pakistan, the election will be held on March 9, Saturday (tomorrow) and former president Asif Ali Zardari was nominated as a candidate by the government coalition.
While Mahmood Achakzai has been nominated as a candidate by the members of SIC supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The papers of former President Asif Zardari and Mahmood Khan Achakzai have also been approved.
However, a day before the election, Mahmood Achakzai's demand to postpone the election has come up.
Presidential candidate Mahmood Achakzai has written a letter to the Election Commission and demanded to postpone the presidential election.
In the letter written by him, the position has been taken that many reserved seats in the national and provincial assemblies are still vacant, therefore the election should be postponed until the completion of the electoral college.
