Sindh requests WHO to add Chinese vaccines to certification list

The Sindh Health Department has requested the World Health Organization (WHO) to include Sinopharm and other Chinese vaccines in the vaccine certification list, similar to the British anti-corona vaccine AstraZeneca.

Sindh Minister of Health & Population Welfare Dr Azra Fazal has said that the provincial health department has officially requested the WHO to include China-made vaccines to add to the list of official recognition.

According to Dr Azra, under the vaccine certification, only those who have been vaccinated with AstraZeneca can travel abroad, while thousands of people who have gone abroad from the province have been jabbed with Sinopharm and SinoVac.

According to the Sindh Health Minister, people who have had Sinopharm, SinoVac or PakVac will not be able to get the AstraZeneca shot again.

According to officials, people over the age of 40 can get the AstraZeneca vaccine from the Karachi Expo Mass Vaccination Center along with their passports and visas.

Pakistan has reported more than 2,000 new COVID-19 cases, taking the number of infections to 921,053, while 43 more people have succumbed to the deadly coronavirus.

Pakistan is presently experiencing the third wave of coronavirus which is said to be deadlier and more contagious than the previous two waves.

According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 2,117 cases of coronavirus were reported while 43 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 20,779.

The total number of confirmed cases reached 921,053.

As many as 841,241 patients have recovered from the disease with 3,947 critical cases.
