Islamabad: Indus River System Authority (IRSA) has increased water supply to Sindh and Punjab.

In a meeting, after reviewing the availability of water in the country, the authority increased the inflow of water in the rivers has by 24% from 172,000 on May 28 to 225,000 cusecs on 31st May.
After that, the country's water shortage has dropped from 32% to 18%.
Given this situation, Irsa has also increased the water-share of provinces.
The share of Punjab has been increased by 18,000 cusecs from 83,000 cusecs to 101,000 cusecs. Similarly, the share of Sindh was increased by 35,000 cusecs from 74,000 cusecs to 190,000 cusecs.
According to Irsa, the temperature is rising in the northern areas due to which the flow of river water is constantly increasing.
Due to the good management of Irsa at Chashma, the water shortage has been limited to 8,000 cusecs in recent days.
Irsa representative said that the authority assures the provinces that as per the 1991 water agreement, water is being distributed with impartiality.
However, Irsa has asked the provinces to modernize their water use practices to minimize water wastage.
