Police officials said that the accused Riaz Shah has been arrested and a case has been registered and investigation into the incident is underway.


Rawalpindi: A man tortured the widow sister-in-law and her daughters along with other accomplices, with shovels in Sher Zaman Colony of Rawalpindi.
According to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Kamran Asghar, the accused Riaz Shah is the brother-in-law of the victim widow and there is a house dispute between the family. The accused is asking for share with his other brother while the house has been registered in the name of the late husband of the victim widow.
Police officials said that the accused Riaz Shah has been arrested and a case has been registered and investigation into the incident has been started.
Taking notice of the incident, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has directed immediate action against the accused and while seeking a report from the police authorities, she said that violence against women is not tolerated, it is a red line.
SSP Operations and other police officers also visited the house of the victim's family and inquired about their well-being and assured them of cooperation.
