Crackdown against kite flyers in Punjab, over 50 suspects arrested
According to the police, kites, spinning wheels and metal strings were recovered from the possession of the accused.
Lahore: Following the order of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, more than 50 accused were arrested and booked in the crackdown against kite flyers.
Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sunday ordered a crackdown against those who make, sell and buy metal strings in kite flying.
After the order of Maryam Nawaz, the police arrested more than 40 accused in the crackdown against the kite flyers in Hafizabad, Wahari and Khushab.
According to the police, kites, spinning wheels and metal strings were recovered from the possession of the accused.
Meanwhile, 13 suspects were arrested after recovering 30,000 kites from kite-making factories in Faisalabad, and six kite-making machines and 5,000 spinning wheels were seized.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations has directed a crackdown on string and kite factories.
It is pertinent to note that a young child died of electrocution while trying to fly a kite in Sargodha.
Regarding the incident, Chief Minister said in the meeting that after seeing the video of the child killed by the kite string, her heart trembled. Actions are needed on a war footing for the implementation of the law to prevent kite flying.
Apart from this, two days ago in Faisalabad, a 22-year-old motorcycle rider, Asif, died due to a kite string around his neck.
