Written decision issued letting Sanam Javed to contest Senate election
The court decision said that Sanam was also allowed to contest the general election, in the current situation no one can be deprived of basic rights.
Lahore: The Appellate Tribunal issued a written decision to allow Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sanam Javed to contest the Senate elections.
Appellate Tribunal judge Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan issued an 11-page written decision on Sanam Javed's appeal.
In the written decision, it has been said that Umar Sarfaraz Cheema is also in jail, his nomination papers were accepted, no one should be discriminated against.
The court decision said that Sanam was also allowed to contest the general election, in the current situation no one can be deprived of basic rights.
It was written in the judgment that the allegation was that the husband of the appellant could not file the tax return of 2023 due to unavoidable circumstances as he was arrested in the case on May 9. The Returning Officer (RO) should also have reviewed these situations and incidents.
The court order further said that Sanam Javed is allowed to contest on the Punjab reserved seat for women in the Senate, the returning officer should include the appellant's name in the list of candidates.
