Malala urges govt to increase education budget to 4 %
The Nobel laureate highlights the substantial contribution of the Malala Foundation for education.
Islamabad: Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai conveyed her felicitations to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on his recent appointment, expressing optimism for progress under his leadership.
Malala urged the government under leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to increase the budget upto 4 % for eudcation while expressing concerns over 2 per cent of total budget for education.
In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Malala stressed upon the importance of prioritizing education for girls in Pakistan. She also highlighted the substantial contribution of the Malala Foundation.
Malala also announced a generous donation of $1.5 million aimed at bolstering girls' education initiatives across the country.
Malala asked the government to take concrete steps towards enhancing girls' education within the first 100 days of its term.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has yet to respond to Malala's letter.
