Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa Monday indicated a change in the period for filing an appeal in the Supreme Court.

Chief Justice Faez Isa sought the opinion of senior lawyers to change the time period in the case of plot ownership against a citizen in the Supreme Court Karachi Registry.

The Chief Justice asked during the hearing of the plot dispute case that what should be the appeal period against the decisions of the High Courts? The lawyers replied that there is a decision of the five-member bench of the Supreme Court regarding the appeal period. Farogh Naseem said that the decision of the five-member bench is limited and you have to review it afresh.

During the hearing barrister Salahuddin, Farogh Naseem, Khalid Javed and others suggested to review the matter administratively. The Chief Justice stated that they will see whether this case will be resolved administratively or on the judicial side.

Earlier, during the hearing at the Supreme Court Karachi Registry, the Chief Justice expressed his indignation on the part of the Chief Justice seeking respite from the lawyer of the city government. The Supreme Court has summoned Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab immediately. Secretary Local Government has also been ordered to appear immediately.

During the hearing, the Chief Justice said in his remarks that you people have made a mockery of the court. If you file the case, then proceed it. Expressing his indignation, Qazi Faez said that the case has been filed for 15 years, why are they not proceeding it? He, while giving remarks, added that do not make a joke of the court by repeatedly requesting adjournment.
