Lahore: Chicken prices in Lahore on Tuesday witnessed a decline amidst subdued demand, according to the Pakistan Poultry Association.
Initially soaring, the prices now dropped, with chicken meat selling at Rs470 per kg after Rs78 per kg reduction.
Over the past three weeks, the price of chicken had been a significant decrease, amounting to Rs227 per kg.
Besides it, the price of a chick dropped from Rs220 to Rs100.
Previously, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had pledged to crack down on those exploiting consumers in the chicken market.
In an effort to address the issue, stringent measures were initiated against poultry farmers and traders. Stock data has been requisitioned from these stakeholders to investigate the sudden price fluctuations.
