Islamabad: The government has prepared to provide to drop electric bomb on people again as electricity is likely to be expensive by Rs3.48 per unit for a month.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will hear the request for monthly fuel price adjustment today.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has sought the price hike as part of the April Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA), which, if approved, will result in an additional burden of around Rs34 billion on consumers.
The petition stated that no electricity was generated from furnace oil and diesel in April. The electricity generation from hydel was 22.96 percent in a month and 10.19 percent electricity was generated from local coal in April.
11.28 percent of electricity was generated from domestic gas and 24.97 percent from imported Liquified Natural Gas (LNG), and 23.64 percent from nuclear fuel in April.
