Around 50 million voters will use their right to vote to elect their new leadership

London: The United Kingdom is prepared to hold its 2024 general elections tomorrow, with less than 24 hours remaining until voting begins.
Approximately 50 million voters are expected to participate in electing their new leadership.
Over 4,500 candidates are competing for 650 parliamentary seats. Out of these, 533 seats are in England, 59 in Scotland, 40 in Wales, and 18 in Northern Ireland.
To facilitate the voting process, more than 40,000 polling stations have been established nationwide. Voting will take place uninterrupted from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time. The election results will be announced on July 5.
A political party or coalition needs to secure at least 326 seats to form a government.
After the elections, the newly elected members will take their oaths, and the Speaker will be chosen in a parliamentary session on July 9.
It may be mentioned here that the Conservative Party's current term is legally until January 2025. However, on May 22, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced early elections.
